Damon and Olivia start school on Monday and I thought it would be a good idea to get organized. Their school requires every student to carry a Planner in their backpack and bring it to school everyday. The teachers then fill it with a Weekly Calendar and a Daily Homework Sheet. I thought we needed to use the same concept as a Family Planner. I bought a 3 ring binder, dividers, sheet protectors, and printed a few things off the computer. We now have a place to keep track of school projects and activities all in one place for all three kids.
I separated the binder into eight sections:
Section #1 is a Calendar. This is where we will be keeping track of all Homework and all Activities.
Sections 2-4 are labeled each with one child's name. This is where I made a Chore Chart for each child and put a couple sheet protectors for their individual calendars from their teachers.
Section #5 is a weekly check-list for our evening routine. It breaks down things that have to be done every school night and is basically a minute by minute schedule.
Section #6 is a place to keep Lunch Menus and Newsletters from the School.
Section #7 is Teacher and School Contact Information along with their School Schedules and Bus Route.
Section #8 is a Friend Contact Sheet.
The planner is also useful in case of an emergency or if someone else has to watch the kids in a moments notice. My kids haven't had a bedtime or chores up until this point. I could really kick myself for doing that! Now they are all in school and have to wake up early so it's time to crack the whip.
